Indian Coast Guard recruits the Coast Guard vacancies through the Coast Guard Recruitment notification. The various positions are distributed according to the different categories such as schedule class, schedule tribe, Backword classes, Economically Weaker Sections people, and General. Candidates belonging to the OBC category but coming in the “Creamy Layer” are not entitled to OBC reservation and age relaxation. They should indicate their category as General.

Indian Coast Guard Eligibility 2023

A candidate applying for recruitment in the Indian Coast Guard must be either:— a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan. 

Indian Coast Guard Educational Qualification

General Duty (i) Should hold a degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
(ii) Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to
Intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of
education or equivalent with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics. The candidates who have completed graduation after the diploma, are also eligible, provided they possess an aggregate of 55% marks in the diploma with physics and mathematics in its curriculum.
Technical (Mechanical) (i) Engineering degree from a recognized university in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine
or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and
Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
OR
Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines
recognized by the Institutes of the Engineers (India)
as exempted from sections „A‟ and „B‟ and their
Associate membership examination (AMIE).
(d) (ii) Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to
intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of
education or equivalent with a minimum 55% aggregate
marks in Mathematics and Physics. The candidates who
have completed graduation after diploma, are also
eligible, provided they possess an aggregate of

Indian Coast Guard Age Limit 2023

A candidate must have been born between 01 Jul 1999 & 30 Jun 2003 (both dates inclusive).

Steps to Apply For Indian Coast Guard Recruitment 2023

Step 1: Candidates to go to the Company’s website https://joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in.

Step 2: The candidates are to log in to https://joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in and follow the instructions for registering with their email ID/mobile number.

Step 3: Candidates are advised to carefully fill in and verify the details filled in the online application themselves.

Step 4 The candidate has also to upload the latest photograph during registration. Additionally, a live image of the
candidate will be captured during the registration.

Step 5: Candidates can proceed to fill in other details of the Application Form.

Step 6: Click on the ‘Payment’ Tab and proceed with payment.

Step 7: Click on the ‘Submit’ button.

Indian Coast Guard Selection Process 2023

The selection of Assistant Commandants is based on an all-India order of merit which is based on the performance of candidates in various stages (I – V). All candidates will be compulsorily subjected to biometrics, photo identification, and document verification during various stages of the examination.

Stage I: CGCAT All candidates for all branches shall appear in a computer-based online screening test known as CGCAT. The test will be conducted in designated centers located all over India. The test comprises 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) carrying
four marks for each correct answer and one negative mark for each incorrect answer. The duration of the test will be of two hours and the medium of the test paper will be English. 
Stage II: Preliminary Selection Board Based on the performance of Stage I, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Stage II (PSB) which will be conducted for a day at Noida, Mumbai/Goa, Chennai, and Kolkata centers.
Stage-III: Final Selection Board (FSB) FSB is conducted at the Coast Guard
The Selection Board (CGSB) is located in Noida and spans over five days. The candidates are
subjected to Psychological Tests, Group Tasks, and Interviews (Personality tests).
Stage IV: (Medical Examination) The candidates who clear Stage III are
required to undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi. Candidates declared unfit in the Special Medical Board (SMB) will be included in the merit list as they have the option to appeal the verdict and will report for appeal medicals at a designated service hospital
within 42 days of completion of SMB.
Stage-V: (Induction) The candidates who clear Stage – IV and stand in All India Merit List as per the vacancies available will be provisionally selected for training and will be
required to report at INA Ezhimala for the Naval Orientation Course (NOC) as per the instructions.
